I have a PGCE in Primary Education from Homerton College, Cambridge with an English/Drama specialism. ​I have taught A-Level Theatre Studies and Performing Arts in state sixth forms in North London and Cambridge and have been Head of Drama in schools in both South London and Malaysia.

I have also been a volunteer teacher - most recently working with Camino Seguro's literacy group, comprising of women working in the municipal garbage dump of Guatemala City.

From 1994-5 I worked as a volunteer teacher, living in the Hogares Santa Maria de Guadalupe, a rural children's home, where many of the older children had been orphaned by the civil war in Guatemala. It was one of the best years of my life.
